Search for a work

To search for a work, select a specific composer, work category & subcategory, and/or enter a keyword. Searches can be performed either separately or in combination.

Category/subcategory: Select a category by itself or in combination with a subcategory and 2nd level subcategory

Selection:	Retrieves:
Chamber (alone)	all works for chamber ensembles
Chamber (category) & Strings Bowed (subcategory)	only chamber works for strings bowed
Chamber (category) & String Bowed (subcategory) & Quartets (2nd level subcategory)	only works for four strings

Title (keyword):

Enter one or more words of the work's title. If you use more than one keyword, results will be restricted to works that are an exact match of the keywords you entered.

Advanced search

To perform an advanced search, select composer, work category & subcategory, instrumentation, orchestra / choir type, composer's year of birth, year of composition, duration, number of instruments, and / or number of solo voices, either separately or in combination.

Category / subcategory: See explanation above.

Year of birth, composition, duration, number of instruments, solo voices: Use these to indicate range parameters. In each case, an exact year, duration, or number can be found by using the same value in both "from" and "to."

Instrumentation: Search for compositions with specific instrumentation.

oboe	all works including oboe
oboe (solo) to check only solo box	only works including oboe as a solo instrument
oboe & the work must include ONLY these instruments	only works for oboe solo
oboe & flute	all works including oboe and flute
oboe & flute & the work must include ONLY these instruments	works only for oboe and flute

 

Ensembles: orchestras, choirs, bands in the search system are considered as separate „instruments“.

piano (solo) & string orchestra	all works that include piano solo and string orchestra
