Loreta Narvilaitė

Photo: Arūnas Baltėnas
The rational principles of structuring, characteristic of Loreta Narvilaitė's musical idiom, came to the fore during her composition studies by the end of the 80-ies. Her later music is often marked by either an expressive or a nostalgic touch of emotion, although the rational basis of music remains. These changes are reflected in the poetic titles of her works that also programs the mood of her compositions ("Morning Dew Was Falling", "Here Sings the Wind", "Open City", "Call-Light"). The recent opuses of Narvilaitė reveal contrastive expressiveness ("Visby-bike", 2003), refined concerto-type quality ("When the Footbridge Is Gone I Will Cross the River", 2003), or neoromantic melancholia ("Your Eyelashes Touch the Lips of My Memories", 2002).
