How to get to us

Antanas Rekašius
Music for Strings No.2

Year of Composition:  1992
Duration:  12
Instrumentation:  str orch
Samples:   Score    Audio

Ver: 1999

Movements:

I Allegro molto espressivo

II Allegretto

III Presto

Programme note

Rekašius's Music for Strings is based on his Fifth String Quartet – the first and last movements are almost identical. The first movement mocks Classical performing practices, while the second presents a clash of hypertrophic emotionality and temperament. The finale is a pseudo-bombastic virtuoso piece.

Donatas Katkus
