Ugniavijas belongs to a small group of all-male folk bands in Lithuania. Its members seek to bring out the uniqueness of each voice and convey the songs of our forefathers in a very personal manner, through the experience of a man – soldier. Five years ago three young guys, folklore enthusiasts, came together united by their wish to foster the heritage of Lithuanian men’s songs from different historical periods expressing love for the homeland. When another member joined the band, songs performed by four men acquired a richer and more powerful sound. Today Ugniavijas added the fifth member. The band’s members are not tired of exploring the early crafts, participating in the activity of historical clubs and playing in other bands. Ugniavijas adds a not-quite-authentic, contemporary touch to the majority of the performed songs following the principles of the post-folk genre.
