The composition by young Lithuanian composer Ugnė Giedraitytė,
Panneau for clarinet and strings, was given the second position in the category of young composers at the 54th International Rostrum of Composers which took place in Paris, on 5-9 of June. The Rostrum is organized by the International Music Council in close collaboration with Radio France and UNESCO.
The 54th International Rostrum of Composers gathered representatives from 33 national radio networks from four continents and presented 64 works composed within five years preceding the Rostrum. In the general category, Mouthpiece IX for voice and orchestra by American composer Erin Gee was selected by the delegates as most outstanding. In the category of young composers (under 30), JenZeits for orchestra by Estonian composer Ülo Krigul was selected as most worthy for worldwide broadcasting; and Panneau by Ugnė Giedraitytė was just a few points away from the winner in this category.
