It took five years for pop singer Mia to put herself on Lithuanian show business map. We first heard of her in 2002, when she took part in Baltic TV talent contest Fizz Superstar. Dropping out before the finals, she however gained attention of Lithuanian pop entrepreneurs – backing vocal sessions for established acts Delfinai and Deivis followed and the recording contract with Melodija label was signed. Mia's fanbase quickly expanded when she started performing in popular clubs, singing improvised melodies over music played by DJs. Reputation of Mia as a talented melody-oriented pop performer with great vocal skills grew even stronger after she recorded Muzika – a duet with Lithuanian dance music leaders Sel which won Song of 2006 Bravo (Lithuanian Grammy) award. Long experience of successful performances meant Mia's debut album Yra kaip yra (2007) got lots of attention. If modern, melodic unpretentious pop music is what you're looking for, Mia is definitely worth a listen.
