Premiere:
18 May 2011, at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall, Vilnius (Druskomanija Festival); performers: Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, conductor Robertas Šervenikas.
Programme note:
Kampana means vibration in Hindi. The composition is based on the sound spectrum of Sisoy – the great bell at the Rostov the Great’s kampanile which weighs 33 tones. With the help of the Spear software, these vibrations were transcribed for the orchestra. The composition opens with the eighth overtone and moves to other overtones, constantly recurring (returning) to the former. The undulating sound mass expands until the orchestra evolves into a gigantic bell.
