The rock group Pievos from Rokiškis (North Eastern Lithuania) uses many folk music elements in their songs. With a new lineup since 2003, the group’s sound moved more to folk rock. The rich and sensitive voice of the singer Virginija, smooth blend of electric and acoustic guitars, accordion and violin lend a particular emotionality to their songs. They take us to Northern Lithuania where we can discover answers to the eternal questions of existence amidst whispering meadows, praying trees and lurking quagmires. Their third album Paprastas pasaulis (Simple World), released in 2011, shows an exceptional melodic blend of rock, poetry and folk music.
