D'Orange

Biography

Youth. Perseverance. Musicianship. Craft. The group mixes its 'orangy' musical cocktails by adding splashes of jazz, funk, hip-hop, soul and fusion, and serves them fresh and sparkling to the audiences. The chief barman of the group is the leading bassist and composer, Domas Aleksa. Having debuted as teenagers on the stage of international jazz festivals, the group's members are now regarded as some of Lithuania's most outstanding young jazz performers.

Domas Aleksa formed D'Orange in 2004, with the strong rhythmic core made of his bass guitar and his brother, Marijus Aleksa, on drums. This tandem of Aleksa brothers has lately assumed a somewhat pivotal role in many musical acts of younger generation: their grooves and riffs can also be heard in concerts of Guerilla Jazz.lt, A.I.R., Groovy Taxi, Brassbastardz, Skamp and others. The Estonian singer Sofia Rubina frequently joins the group in their performances.
