Axis

Axis is the latest representative of the glorious tradition of bands from Šiauliai, northern industrial Lithuanian city, known for its lively guitar based music scene. A local rock club sensation for quite a while, these British pop devotees made first  career steps abroad in 2005, performing in Latvia. 2006 brought critical acclaim – the track featured on this compilation, Radiophonic, won the Baltic New Music Chart competition, beating entries from 29 Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian bands. Produced by London-based  performer Vytis Puronas (of Lithuania's cult club act Soya Modified), Radiophonic has dark electronic edge, drawing some comparisons with the British bands Stone Roses and Kasabian. The band's core members Auris and Zuts moved to Iceland in 2006 and are currently mixing their debut album, hugely anticipated by Baltic rock fans.
