Axis

Biography

AXIS is the newest member of the glorious tradition of the bands from northern Lithuanian industrial city of Šiauliai. BIX, ZHUWYS, LYGIAILYJA, GIN GAS, BRAINERS and now AXIS have all contributed to the exceptional guitar based sound from this town. Actually, the band started their first rehearsals in 2002 in the legendary former BIX rehearsal space Bixinė.

However, more than 4 years ago the core of the band guitarist and vocalist Aurimas Bavarskis and solo guitarist Mantas Zuts Češkauskas moved to the Lithuanian capital in pursuit of academic degrees, student life and more rock'n'roll. When in Vilnius, Šiauliai born bassist Mindaugas Bruzga and later drummer Skirmantas Kunevičius joined AXIS.

2005 was the year when the international career of AXIS began to unfold. The band recorded a bunch of new, more and more sophisticated guitar based songs (Alone, Milk and Water, Radiophonic) and played a lot of tiny gigs in Lithuania and neighboring Latvia. They were so much liked by the Riga independent music experts, that AXIS was invited to headline the Blieziens 2005 festival near Estonian border. And in May 2006, Radiophonic won the biggest Baltic new band competition Baltic New Music Chart 2006, winning over 29 rivals from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

The AXIS moved to Latvia in 2006 to record their debut album and band's core members Auris and Zuts are currently mixing it in Iceland.
